Abstract

The phenomenon of random housing is one of the most negative phenomena experienced by most cities in developing countries and many major and major cities in the world because of the burdens and economic, social, demographic, environmental, security, and other problems that this phenomenon causes, as well as distorting the visual view of cities due to the lack of aesthetic values in design and engineering Buildings, roads, services and their neighborhoods, and the reasons and repercussions for the emergence of these clusters and their forms, results and treatments differ from country to country according to the reality and level of each. This study aimed to employ remote sensing techniques (RS) and geographic information systems (GIS) in determining random housing gatherings in the city of Nasiriyah and to know the dimensions and levels of this phenomenon by matching the updated basic design of the city with the reference data represented by high-resolution satellite visualizations of the Landsat 7 satellite For the year 2018, to achieve the purpose of the study, some devices and software were used, such as the ERDAS IMAGINE program. Arc Map 10.5 software, GPS device and GPS coordinates. Global Positioning System.   It was found through the study that the number of informal settlements in the city of Nasiriyah reached (35), with (12028) random housing, distributed over the industrial housing neighborhoods and the Al-Sadr and Mansuriyah neighborhoods that attracted the largest random settlements, due to the large extent of these neighborhoods as well as their occurrence on the outskirts of the design The basic principle is the presence of agricultural areas adjacent to them, as the number of informal housing of industrial housing amounted to 1264 housing units, while the random housing units in Al-Sadr neighborhood reached 1488 housing units, while the random housing units of Al-Mansouriya neighborhood reached 1150 housing units, and this neighborhood is located to the west of Nasiriyah city and is characterized by the presence of extensions to it To the north and south, it has been overlooked for the purposes of random housing, as well as abuses that permeate the public squares and lands belonging to the state within these neighborhoods. It was overtaken.
