Sport co-operation between Iraq and Soviet Union (1968-1980)
Abstract
Iraq emerged in the seventies of the twentieth century as a country that had weight and influence on the Arab and regional levels, and relations with the Soviet Union occupied a distinguished position in its foreign policy.
The research dealt with Iraq's relations in the field of sports, as it presented cooperation in the field of sports during the period 1968-1980, as cooperation in the field of sports was through the exchange of sending sports delegations in most sports branches, participation in sports tournaments held in the two countries, and contracting with Soviet coaches. For the development of the Iraqi teams, as well as a conclusion, and cooperation in the field of sports has contributed greatly to the development of relations between the two countries, especially that the Soviet Union was one of the first countries that helped Iraq use its own capabilities to develop its various sectors, and this was a reason for concluding more protocols and agreements between the two countries.
