Abstract
The current research aims to identify the Emotional Contagion and its relationship to selfpity among parents who have lost parents in private schools in orphanages in the city of AlDiwaniyah, as the number of the research sample members reached (110) male and female students
who were chosen in a random manner with equal distribution, and to measure this goal a scale of
emotion contagion was built Which in its final form consisted of (18) paragraphs, and the
researcher also built a measure of self-pity, which in its final form consisted of (22) paragraphs.
The psychometric properties of both measures of validity and reliability were extracted, and
appropriate statistical methods were used to extract the results of the current research.
The most important results of the current research indicate that those who have lost fathers
have a high level of emotional contagion, and there are statistically significant differences in
emotional contagion be consoled
to the sex variable (males, females) and in favor of females, and the results indicated a high level of
self- pity among a sample. The research, as there are statistically significant differences in self-pity
according to the gender variable (males, females) and in favor of males, and the results of the
current research showed a positive correlation between both of the Emotional Contagion and selfpity among the parents without parents. The research came out with a number of recommendations
and suggestions.
